Enreco Inc., a manufacturer and innovator of stabilized, ground flax ingredients and custom grain blends in Newton, recently completed an American Institute of Baking inspection at its production facility, earning a superior rating for the second year in a row.

"We are very pleased to be recognized with AIB's highest certification because it affirms our commitment to maintaining the highest level of quality and food safety," said Sean Moriarty, Enreco president, in a press release.

An AIB inspection includes audits of a facility's food safety programs, a Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points program, management systems, pest control programs, operational methods, personnel practices, buildings and equipment maintenance, and cleaning practices.

Each category is individually scored, ranked, and tallied, resulting in the company's overall score.

The AIB certification applies to all Enreco product lines, including its Sterling Choice stabilized, golden or brown, ground flaxseed, also available as organic.

A wide range of food manufacturers include Enreco products in breads and related food items that are baked, formed or extruded; snack foods; pasta; cereals; energy bars; sauces; and pizza crusts.

The majority of Enreco's sales are direct to human and animal food manufacturers as bulk ingredients.

The company also works with independent distributors.

"Currently, Enreco ships to 10 countries outside of the U.S., accounting for about 15 percent of total sales, and that segment is targeted to grow substantially," said Ravin Rajan, Enreco's vice president of operations.

The company recently opened a separate sales and marketing office in Sheboygan Falls.
