Business Seminar planned for May 8

EDCMC, SCORE--Conselors to America's Small Business

The Economic Development Corporation of Manitowoc County and SCORE—Counselors to America’s Small Business are offering “Effectively Starting Your Business Seminar” on Thursday, May 8, 2008 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm at the Silver Lake College Generose Center, 2406 Alverno Rd, Manitowoc.

This seminar is for those interested in starting their own business, whether that business is home-based or operating from another location. 

“Effectively Starting Your Business” covers the basics of creating a workable Business Plan, developing a Marketing Plan and reviewing the aspects of a Financial Plan.  A local entrepreneur will also be on hand to share their experiences.

Participants are encouraged to bring their questions and their calendars to arrange one-on-one counseling with a SCORE Counselor.

Specifically participants will be introduced to the following topics that will help them::

• Understand what a business plan is and why it is an important tool.
• Learn from a banker what a loan officer is looking for.
• Provide an overview of marketing and marketing ideas that supplement typical advertising.

The seminar is free and open to the public.
