EDCMC, Chamber launch 2008 Business Census

EDCMC, The Chamber of Manitowoc County Inc. and The Leede Research Group

The Economic Development Corporation of Manitowoc County and The Chamber of Manitowoc County are partnering to complete the Manitowoc County Business Census 2007/2008 with technical and analytical support provided by The Leede Research Group of Manitowoc.

This is a continuation of a process started by the EDCMC in 2007 targeting the largest employers in Manitowoc County.  The goal of this program is to build a comprehensive database of employer needs and information from all employers in Manitowoc County.

“This is a follow-up to a process that was started in 2003 as part of the Vision 2011 program,” said Dean Halverson, CEO of Leede Research.  “It will provide important information on the health of our business community and the resources needed to spark future growth.”

The 2008 survey continues information gathering from the balance Manitowoc County businesses.  The survey is being launched online.  Starting April 16, 2008 the survey may be accessed through the following websites:

A written copy of the survey can be obtained from the EDCMC or Chamber upon request.

Businesses will be asked to provide a business name and address as well as identification of person who completes the survey for security purposes.  The survey should take most respondents about 15 minutes to complete online.

All individual information will remain confidential and used only as part of the results as a whole.  Businesses of all sizes are encouraged to participate so a full picture of community needs can be developed.

Information from the 2008 survey will be used to assess the current economic conditions in the County, as well as provide a benchmark for future measurement and comparison, and to provide directions for future programs and services to Manitowoc County businesses.

“It is important for business to take a moment and share their information and thoughts,” said Ken Stubbe, EDCMC Executive Director.  “It is difficult if not impossible to improve what we haven’t first measured.  The information will be used to set the future EDCMC plans of work.”

“This study will provide valuable information to our Workforce Development Committee,” said Karen Szyman, Interim Chamber Executive Director. “We hope to help our members to continue to grow and prosper.”
